Mainstream Housing Choice Voucher Program

The Bennington Housing Authority was recently awarded new Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers under the Mainstream Voucher program.

Mainstream Vouchers are Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers designated for Section 8 eligible households with a disabled, non-elderly adult (18-61) household member. 

A limited number of waiting list preferences are given to Mainstream eligible households who are (1) experiencing homelessness or (2) previously experienced homelessness and are currently a client in a permanent supportive housing or rapid rehousing project.

If you or your family qualify for the Mainstream Voucher program, you should complete the Optional Disability Declaration section of the Preliminary Application.  

If you believe that you or your family qualify for a Mainstream preference, you need to check the waitlist preference box.

Mainstream eligible households will need, during the application review process, to provide disability documentation and, for those requesting a preference, documentation of homelessness or participation in a permanent supportive housing or rapid rehousing project.
