About Bennington Housing Authority

Bennington Housing Authority (BHA) is a public agency which operates based upon the guidelines set by the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Vermont State Housing Authority.  Funding for BHAs operations comes from HUD, the State of Vermont, and from rental paid for Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) units. BHA operates project- based vouchers complexes in Bennington, and also administers Section 8 vouchers to private landlords if both the landlord and tenant qualify for subsidy under  to HUD guidelines.

The goal of the BHA is to provide safe, comfortable and quality housing for those of lower income levels. By  fulfilling the basic human need of housing, BHA allows RAD tenants and Section 8 clients to focus on enhancing and recognizing their self -sufficiency and gaining skills or education that will allow their families to live with  dignity and contribute to the community.
