Dream Program

DREAM works to close the opportunity gap for youth in affordable housing. DREAM seeks a world in which all children have the opportunities, resources, and relationships necessary to achieve their dreams.

DREAM offers four core programs:

Youth Mentoring: DREAM matches dedicated, trained college student mentors with youth ages 5-18. DREAM’s “Village Mentoring” including one-on-one and team mentoring, often on a nearby college campus. Mentoring activities are tailored to the individual youth’s needs and interests and are guided by the Search Institute’s Developmental Relationships Framework. DREAM’s mentoring activities build a durable social support network around each youth with the aim of developing talent and interests over the long-term. These relationships carry significant weight and influence in young peoples’ lives.

Adventure Programming: DREAM organizes local and regional adventure trips, introducing new experiences and opportunities. Field trips occur throughout the season and include activities such as apple-picking, reading at the library, or visiting an aquarium, tailored to the interests of the youth.

Summer Enrichment Program and Overnight Camp: DREAM’s 52-acre outdoor adventure base in northern Vermont, called Camp DREAM, hosts summer and winter camp sessions for youth ages 8+. During the summer months, Camp DREAM offers environmental-focused overnight camp. In the winter, DREAM’s weekend “Winter Adventure Camp” includes cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, and other winter adventures. Additionally, DREAM’s summer enrichment program provides onsite, daily recreational and educational programming. DREAM meets the National Summertime Learning Institute’s quality standards in its summer offerings, with four summer learning objectives: *competent readers, *healthy in mind and body, *problem solvers, and *artists and creators.
